Dairy Free Quiche

If you are like me and are apart of the lactose intolerance club this may be the recipe for you! I have not always been the biggest fan of breakfast foods however, quiche has a place in my heart. Often, times as a child my family and I would have Quiche’s on special occasions since they are on the fancier end of breakfast items. This is my first attempt at making a quiche at home let alone one without using dairy.

Ingredients:

*During the time of creating this recipe there were not many dairy free alternatives on the market. However, as of April 18, 2019 there are quite a few that I would like to recommend to make this recipe even better. First, off when making this quiche I used Silk Vanilla creamer since that was the only option at the time however, at Whole Foods they now have a few different unflavored ones. Also, the Follow Your Heart cheddar cheese I find to melt easier and taste better than the Diaya cheese. Now on the market there is also a popular egg substitute called Just Egg.

You will want to begin preheating your oven at 375F to prebake the pie crust.

During this recipe I also used a premade crust from Whole Foods however making your own is quite simple. This recipe called Buttery Pie Crust which is indeed dairy free!

Whether you are using a premade crust or a freshly made one you will want to first poke holes into it as depicted above. I used a fork to do this and then you will want to bake it for about ten minutes prior to adding your ingredients.

You will want to adjust the oven temperature at this time to 350F.

Next, I chopped up my spinach and bacon and added them to the bottom of my pie crust. Prior to adding in the egg.

Then in a bowl I mixed together six eggs with salt and pepper. I whisked them together using a fork until everything was evenly combined.

Then after about 25 minutes your quiche should be done! You will want to leave it to cool in a safe space in the kitchen for about 15 minutes. Then it will be ready to enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe. If you tried it out please let me know how you liked it or if you made any modifications! 🙂
